A House on the sand. A sand that changes colors according to the seasons. In a beach that has been recently declared a natural refuge for sea life where turtles come to lay their eggs. A house on the sand that was built in 1958 by the world famous architect Alexandros Tombazis fresh out of university for the needs of his step brother Alexandros Romanos respecting the natural beauty of the scenery. A house on the sand that has been fully renovated to accommodate all the current needs while on the same time has respected its originality. A house on the sand that has kept all of its visitors with fond memories seeking to revisit it whenever possible. There is an old saying that the person who gets Kefalonia sand in his shoes always returns and we are sure that this will apply to you after your stay at our house on the sand.

Home of Caretta Caretta
Every summer, Lepeda becomes a safe heaven for the endangered Caretta - Caretta sea turtles. Under the moonlight, the female turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in the soft sand. Weeks later, tiny hatchlings emerge and instinctively head towards the sea, beginning their incredible journey. Witnessing this moment is a truly magical experience and a reminder of the importance of protecting these gentle creatures

Built in 1958 with deep respect for the natural beauty of its surroundings, the house on the sand has stood quietly on Lepeda beach for decades. Over the years, it welcomed countless visitors who carried fond memories back home, always wishing to return. Recently, it has been fully renovated to meet all modern needs, while preserving its original character and charm. Today, Ammos Retreat blends comfort with authenticity, offering guests the rare gift of living right where the sea meets the sand.
THE DESIGNER
In 1958, Alexandros Tombazis, fresh out of university, designed the house on the sand for his stepbrother, Alexandros Romanos. Even in his very first work, Tombazis revealed the principles that would define his career: harmony with the landscape and respect for nature. This house marked the beginning of a journey that would establish him as a world-renowned architect.
